Unique beads handmade by local artists in Cambodia!
It was hard to decide whether to classify this group under artists or projects, for it is both!
ClayCult Cambodia serves both its local Khmer culture as well as individuals all over the world who purchase its handmade beads and jewelry. They have trained over a dozen women in all areas of the business, from gathering and preparing the clay, to forming and firing and painting the ceramic beads, to turning them into jewelry and selling them. Local men also participate, and the studio has even become a tourist attraction!
The Khmer or Angkor empire had its peak in southeast Asia in the 9th through 15th centuries, and the famous Angkor Wat temple is still considered a world wonder. It is the largest religious monument in the world, and lies just a few miles north of the town of Siem Reap, where Claycult has its studio.
Visit the Claycult studio or its website to purchase unique handmade beads to make your own jewelry designs — or treat yourself or a loved one to a necklace, earrings, or bracelet made by these talented Cambodian artists.
