“One million jobs for women in rural India”
It’s a sad cycle repeated all over the world: Women are not educated, and often are needed at home, so they have little to no income. This often affects the literacy rate, level of malnutrition, and even individual rights and freedoms. These, in turn, help to keep the cycle perpetuated. While some people may actively choose a life of simplicity, few of those suffering true poverty are ever given a choice.
Women on Wings hopes to break that cycle in rural India by creating “a million jobs for women”. So far, they have helped to create over 200,000 such jobs, working with individuals and companies that serve as various types of partners and consultants. They have bases in India and in the Netherlands, and even requests for donations are given in Euros, with no mention of US dollars. Surely there must be relatively few affluent Americans donating to this particular charity organization.
